About Course

Understand the Quran – let your love for it grow.

Noura is a step-by-step Quranic Arabic course taught in English. Every skill is practised in classical Arabic, with Quranic text included.

What you will learn

  • Naḥw (grammar): recognise whether a word is an ism, a fiʿl or a ḥarf, and know why each ending is what it is.
  • Ṣarf (the science of the verb): identify a verb by the endings attached to it, tell past from present and command, and understand the baabs and verb patterns.
  • Quran translation: take a verse apart word by word, then put it back together with its meaning.
  • Qaṣaṣ: read the stories of the Prophets with a dictionary beside you, writing the full taḥqīq of each word (root, meaning, singular and plural, or past, present, masdar and baab) and filling in the ḥarakāt with the reason for each.

How the course works

  • Short recorded video lessons, taught by an Alimiyyah-trained teacher with eight years of teaching experience.
  • Interactive practice after the lessons: sort every word of Sūrah al-Fātiḥah, work out the tense and sign of each verb, and practise looking words up in the Hans Wehr dictionary.
  • Each student has their own progress and moves at their own pace.
  • Open office hours and live QnA sessions every week – seize the chance to ask your instructor questions in real time.

Who it is for
Anyone who wants to move from reciting the Quran to understanding it, including students who have never studied Arabic before. Recommended for ages 15+

What you will need
A copy of the Hans Wehr Arabic–English dictionary (the Qaṣaṣ lessons use it). Everything else is provided.

Course Content

Qur’an
Move from reciting the Quran to understanding it. Each video lesson covers a different portion of the Qur'an, where we go into the word-by-word and sentence translation of the text. Every lesson includes interactive exercises where we take each verse apart word by word and dissect it grammatically. Each lesson uses what you learned in Naḥw and Ṣarf, so the grammar becomes a way into the text.

  • Introduction to Quran Translation & Translation of Surah Al Fatihah
